Deacon Staff

Bob Jones

I was saved in 1972 at Buckner Baptist Church on Sunday the last day of a revival by CG Fisher and Johnny Sisemore, the pastor was Troy Hayes. I was baptized at the HWY 74 bridge. I have been a member of the church since 1970.

I have had the opportunity to serve in various roles in the church; including working as a youth leader, church treasurer, and became a deacon in 1979. I serve on the building committee.

Previously, I served as the Fayetteville Chief of Police. Now that I’m retired, I have time to tend to my garden and help the church.

I have been married to Kay. We have 2 sons Scott and Mike who are active with the church, and a daughter Brenda.

Two of my favorite bible verses are John 3:16 and 2 Corinthians 4-18.

John 3:16

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

2 Corinthians 4:18.

18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

I believe that Buckner’s strength is the people who attend, their commitment to God, family, church, and their willingness to help with whatever needs to be done.

I was saved at the old Mount Olive community building. I was under conviction for two days during a revival for two nights. I told God if he would get me back to church, I would give my heart to him, I did!

I’ve been part of Buckner Baptist Church for 32 years and serve as a deacon.

My profession is in the operation and management of a cattle ranch.

I have been married for over 52 years, have 2 children; a son and a daughter. I have been blessed with five grandchildren.

My favorite bible verse is John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."  This verse gives us hope after we die, and it includes everyone.

I believe that the greatest strength of Buckner Baptist Church is the love and fellowship that we have for each other.

I was saved in 1968 at Buckner Baptist Church at the tender age of 7 years. To this day, 50 years later, I can still relive the power of conviction. My twin brother and me, were baptized in October at the 74 bridge of the White River, and I can still recall that the water was freezing.

I have had the privilege to serve in various roles in the church; including teaching Sunday school and Wednesday night bible study. I currently serve as song leader and maintenance director.

When not at the church, I specialize in custom home building and repair. I enjoy deer hunting and tournament fishing.

I have been married for 33 years to Jerri Johnson Wilson. Our two sons Colby and Ethan are focused on their careers.

Two of my favorite bible verses are Luke 2:11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord, and Matthew 28.6. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.

Buckner’s strength is that our church does not dilute the word of God. The people of this congregation are my closest family, as they have stood beside me through every trial and tribulation, that my family has gone through.

They are a true family
